Marine Legal Services was established only in summer 2007, but our company’s lawyers have professional experience in maritime, insurance and commercial law, litigation and arbitration procedures.

We can offer our assistance in the following aspects: Legal support in sales & purchase transactions of vessels and yachts; Legal support in mortgage arrangements in favor of Latvian or foreign banks; Registration and re-flagging of vessels and yachts within shipping registers of different countries; Provision of legal opinion on the possibilities of debt collection in favor of shipowners, consignors, ship agents, shipschandlers, ship repairers and ship builders, as well as intelligence services on foreign companies regarding their business credibility; Recovery of debts in combination with arrest of property of the debtor (including arresting of vessels and other property) in different jurisdictions; Representing clients in legal proceedings against insurance companies in case of refusing to pay an insurance compensation.

Our lawyers have experience to represent clients (domiciled both in Latvia and abroad) with positive results in international maritime arbitrations such as: London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), German Maritime Arbitration Association (GMAA), Russian Maritime Arbitration Commission (MAC), as well as courts of Latvia, Russia and other countries.

Our clients are basically Latvian and foreign ship owners, P&I clubs, marine underwriters, carriers by road, forwarding companies, ship agencies, ship-chandlers, bunker suppliers, shipyards, banks and companies operating in any other areas related to marine and shipping business.
