Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon is one of the largest independent law firms in Quebec, the result of the January 1, 2010 merger of two well-established firms, Lapointe Rosenstein and Marchand Melançon Forget.

The firm is comprised of nearly 90 lawyers and specializes in a wide variety of business law areas, including franchising. One of the firm’s founding partners was a pioneer in the domain of franchising law in Canada and passed on to many of its attorneys a passion for the pursuit and development thereof and of international franchising law and the issues faced by companies undertaking international expansion in that manner.

Our expertise in franchising law is not limited to franchise legislation per se but extends to related areas of practise including real estate, leasing, intellectual property and licensing. The firm also has strong commercial transactions, tax, labour and litigation departments.

The firm has also actively sought out and developed an international practice in order to better serve its clients in the face of increasing globalization and market expansion. The firm’s lawyers are multilingual and multicultural and come from a variety of backgrounds. As such, we reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of Montreal, one-third of our attorneys being first or second generation Canadians.
