In considering antitrust and competition policy in 2010, it is important to understand that the world economy is in a very different place than it was as recently as two years ago. Today, many of the world's foremost economies find themselves in the midst of a protracted global recession, arguably the worst financial crisis the world has endured since the days of the Great Depression in the 1930s.
