In last year's keynote article, the 2008 edition, we made inevitable reference to the credit crisis and consequent turmoil that was emerging in the global economy. A year later, any discussion of transatlantic employment issues must still contemplate the current troubles in the world's economy. Despite these ongoing challenges, in our view, the prudent and strategic-thinking multinational employer must carefully consider allocating its human capital in the most effective manner so as to be better placed to reap the opportunities that most undoubtedly will emerge as the world economies rebound.
