Avocat à la Cour and Alumnus of the French Ecole Polytechnique, with a PhD in Economics and a Master’s degree from the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique (ENSAE), Jérôme heads the Paris Antitrust, Competition and Trade group.
Prior to joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Jérôme was Head of the Office of Concentrations and State Aids at the French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). During this time, he was notably responsible for implementing the current French policy on the control of concentrations.
Jérôme represents clients in all areas of French and EU competition law: concentrations, state aid, cartels and abuse of dominant position. He also advises on regulation law (telecommunications, energy, pharmaceuticals, media) and on distribution law. He advises a wide range of French and international firms active in numerous sectors, and notably represents his clients before the Competition Authority, the DGCCRF, the European Commission, the Court of Justice as well as the French courts. With both a scientific and legal background, Jérôme is often involved in cases requiring a combination of legal and economic analysis. He has been involved in a number of telecom merger and antitrust cases, at both the European and French level.
Since 2006, Jérôme has act as « non-governmental advisor » representing France at the ICN (International Competition Network). He is a founding member of X-Droit, an association of engineer lawyers. He contributes to many publications specialised in competition law.
Jérôme is fluent in French and English.
