Nicholas French is a partner in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He advises on a wide range of UK, EU and Chinese competition issues across many industries, covering mergers and joint ventures, alliances and cooperation arrangements, distribution networks, as well as cartels and dominance/monopolisation inquiries. Nicholas is particularly active in areas of manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, transport and consumer products.
As well as working in London, Nicholas worked in the firm’s Brussels office for many years, and most recently was based in the firm’s Beijing office where he was co-head of the firm’s antitrust, competition and trade practice group in China. Nicholas continues to advise clients on EU and Chinese competition law issues, as well as UK issues, and he regularly travels between these jurisdictions.
Nicholas has spoken widely on competition issues, including most recently in Australia, China, Europe, Japan, North America and South Korea. He features in Global Competition Review’s International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers, is recognised as a ‘Leader in his Field’ in Chambers Legal Europe Directory and is ranked in Band 1 in Chambers Asia Leading Lawyers for Business Guide 2011.
