Mark Sansom is a partner in Freshfields Dispute Resolution, and Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice groups and is also a member of the Global Investigations practice. He is a Solicitor-Advocate (Civil and Criminal) with Higher Rights of Audience.
Mark has acted on a wide range of contentious, advisory and transactional competition law matters, mainly involving the UK and EU competition authorities, courts and sector regulators. He also advises on bribery and corruption issues.
His contentious experience includes advising clients on private competition law damages actions before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and Senior Courts. His investigatory experience includes a wide range of EU and UK investigations of alleged anti-competitive agreements and abuses of dominance, including in the pay television, newspaper and mobile telephony sectors. He has also advised on investigations under UK and other anti-bribery and corruption laws.
Mark’s transactional experience has included merger proceedings before (among others) the European Commission, UK Office of Fair Trading and Competition Commission, including matters in regulated industries including the media and telecommunications sectors. He has particular experience of traditional and online media mergers.
