Connie Carnabuci is a partner and head of the IP/IT and TMT sector group in Asia. Her practice extends to regulatory IP/IT advice, commercial agreements and structuring of acquisitions, spin offs, joint ventures and public offerings in the TMT sector. Connie has experience of IT outsourcing, systems acquisition and development, and telecoms, with particular expertise in internet and other new media.
Connie's recent experience includes advising Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited on its US$2 billion upgrade and expansion of its 3G network and infrastructure in Indonesia; China Telecom, on its cooperation with research in motion for the introduction of CDMA Blackberry services into China; Macquarie Telecom on a comparative White Paper of local cloud computing solution hosted in Australia compared to an international cloud solution hosted in the US; and open-joint-stock-company "Vimpel-Communications" on its US$66 million acquisition of a 78 per cent stake in Millicom Lao Co Ltd, a Lao mobile telecommunications company.
Connie has co-authored the Hong Kong and PRC chapters of Getting the Deal Through: Telecoms for each edition from 2002 to 2011. Connie has been named as one of the world's leading patent and technology licensing lawyers by International Asset Management and was nominated by Euromoney as a leading woman in business law in the technology sector. Connie is featured as a leading intellectual property and telecom, media and technology practitioner in China by Chambers Asia 2011 and has also been ranked as a leading expert in intellectual property in Asia by Asian Legal Business in 2011.
