Laurent Deruy is a partner based in Paris and the Firm’s head of environmental law matters. He advises numerous public and private clients, industrial operators and financial institutions on operations requiring environmental due diligence and the drafting of specific clauses with regard to environmental risks. He assists clients in administrative disputes concerning classified facilities for environmental protection as well as environmental liability issues in civil and criminal disputes. He recently advised Caisse des dépôts et consignations in a dispute related to access to environmental data (brought before the Court of Justice of the European Union). He also regularly advises clients on consultations with regard to waste regulations (nuclear, household and industrial waste) and, in particular, has advised a medium-sized French group on its relations with the inspection authorities and various disputes concerning the management of landfill sites.

Laurent Deruy is a former Officer of the Auditor General’s Department (Cour des Comptes) and has been a member of the Higher Council for the Prevention of Technological Risks (Conseil Supérieur de Prévention des Risques Technologiques) since 2007. He also chairs the Administrative Law Commission at the Union Internationale des Avocats.
