Orana Swan is a senior associate in the Freehills Intellectual property practice specialising in IP commercial transactions, media and entertainment and online rights.
Orana’s experience includes:
- advising, drafting and negotiating intellectual property agreements, including IP sale and licence agreements, trade mark sale agreements, trade mark licences, brand agreements and copyright sale and licences for major Australian and international companies;
- advice to the media and entertainment industry including drafting and negotiating content licence agreements for TV and magazines, film and TV options, TV format agreements, production and financing agreements, publishing and e-publishing agreements, recording agreements and sponsorship agreements;
- acting and advising on various IP matters in M&A and JV transactions;
- advising, drafting and negotiating software development and software licence agreements;
- specialist copyright and moral rights advice;
- internet related issues such as domain names, websites, linking and the exploitation of intellectual property rights in the digital environment.
Orana has a Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney. Orana completed her honours thesis on the issue of Copyright law in the Digital Environment.
Orana has published several articles in relation to copyright, branding, misleading and deceptive advertisements and domain names.
