Atif Azher is a senior associate in Simpson Thacher’s Palo Alto office where he specializes in mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Transactions which he has handled include the representation of: The Blackstone Group in connection with its initial public offering and numerous other transactions; The Carlyle Group, The Blackstone Group and Centerbridge Partners in connection with their acquisition of BankUnited, FSB; Hellman & Friedman in connection with The Blackstone Group’s acquisition of a controlling interest in Emdeon Inc.; Texas Pacific Group in connection with its acquisitions of the consumer packaging division of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation and Field Container Company, L.P.; Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in connection with its joint venture with Hilcorp Energy Company; Wyeth in connection with its sale to Pfizer Inc.; TD Bank Financial Group in connection with its acquisitions of Commerce Bancorp, Inc. and Chrysler Financial Services Americas, LLC; Ingersoll-Rand plc in connection with the sale of a majority interest in its Hussmann Stationary Refrigerated Display Case business to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice; and ARAMARK Corporation in connection with the sale of a minority interest in SeamlessWeb Professional Solution to Spectrum Equity Investors.

Mr. Azher received a J.D. and M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. and B.S.B.A. from the University of Arizona. He is admitted to practice in New York and his admission in California is pending. Mr. Azher is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
