Partner

Richard is a Partner in the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group and a member of the Funds and Investment Services Team. Richard has nine years of Cayman experience in private equity and hedge funds for which he was recognised in the 2010 edition of Legal 500 and IFLR1000 and eight years of international experience in corporate and projects work. In addition, Richard has focused on in-depth, finance work captive insurance and reinsurance and general corporate work.

Richard has written for several international publications, including Financier Worldwide magazine, The Lawyer and Hedgeweek. He has also written for the Cayman Financial Review, Cayman Captive and Captive & Art Review.

Richard trained and practised at Paisner & Co (now Berwin Leighton Paisner) and continued his practice at LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae (now Dewey LeBoeuf) and Denton Wilde Sapte in London. In 2001, Richard joined another leading law firm in the Cayman Islands where he was an Associate until being appointed a Partner in 2008. Richard joined Appleby in 2010.

Richard is a member of the AIMA Cayman executive board and also serves on the legal and regulatory sub-committee.
