Geert Goeteyn, a partner in Shearman & Sterling’s Brussels and London offices, advises on all areas of EU and UK competition, merger and regulatory law. He is dual qualified to practice law in Belgium and in England & Wales, and holds an LLM in European Law. Geert has particular experience in the application of EC competition and regulatory law in the aviation sector. He has been involved, either as a representative of the parties or on behalf of a third party intervener, in almost all of the aviation cases that have shaped European competition law policy in the sector. He has been consistently nominated by his peers as one of the world’s leading aviation lawyers in the International Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers and has been identified by Euromoney as one of the top 20 aviation lawyers in the world. Geert is frequently quoted in the press, regularly contributes to books and journals and is an editor (together with Trevor Soames) of the aviation chapter of the Butterworths Competition Law Encyclopaedia.
