Alexander Rinne is a partner in the Munich office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He joined Milbank in mid-2010 to establish Milbank's German and European Antitrust & Competition practice.

He specializes in both German and European antitrust and competition law. Prior to joining Milbank, Alexander Rinne was head of the German EU & competition practice of a major international law firm and head of its Munich office.

He has extensive expertise in anti-trust litigation before German and European courts where he represents clients particularly in the context of antitrust damages cases, refusal to supply actions and cases in relation to merger control decisions.

He also specializes in defending clients in cartel investigations (including settlement negotiations and leniency applications) as well as dominance cases before the relevant antitrust authorities and courts.

In addition, Alexander Rinne, regularly advises clients in relation to merger control filings, which involves applying merger control regulations on complex private equity structures, as well as in the strategic planning and subsequent implementation of acquisitions by companies that are already market leaders in their respective areas.

Finally, his practice also includes assisting clients in relation to the antitrust aspects of joint-ventures, strategic alliances, distribution agreements and general antitrust compliance issues.

Alexander Rinne was admitted to the German bar in 1998. He studied law at the universities of Duesseldorf and Kiel, Germany. In Kiel, he also obtained his doctorate degree (Dr. jur.) in 1997.
