Peter Cullen is a partner in the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott's commercial litigation section and a member of the firm's national insurance, energy and arbitration practice groups. Mr Cullen's practice is focused on the corporate, alternative dispute resolution and litigation aspects of commercial insurance (including liability, marine, energy, D&O and general coverage disputes), international trade and shipping matters (including sale & purchase, ship construction and charter party work). He acts for domestic and foreign corporations as well as for the Corporation of Lloyd's, Underwriters at Lloyd's, for members of the International Underwriting Association of London and for domestic and foreign insurance companies, protection and indemnity associations and brokers.
Mr Cullen is listed on the International Arbitration Panel of the Canadian Council for International Business, the Canadian affiliate of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris. He is an arbitrating member of the Association of Maritime Arbitrators of Canada and an honorary life member of the Canadian Maritime Law Association (president 2003-2005, board member 1998-2007). He is a titulary member of the Comité Maritime International and a former member of Council of the Canadian Bar Association (Chair of the National Sections Council, 1994-1995, Chair of the National Maritime Law Section, 1992-1994). Mr Cullen holds degrees in both civil law and common law and is a member of the Quebec (1981) and Ontario (1990) law societies.
