Elena graduated with honors from law department of Samara State University. From 1997 through 2001 she worked for Oil Shipping Company “Volgotanker”.

On 2001 Elena joint Law firm “Sokolov, Maslov and Partners”. Elena has broad background in various aspects related to merchant shipping: financing, acquisition and repairs of ships; registration of ships and mortgages; arrests; accidents and dangers of river and sea; marine insurance; mediation; custom and taxation matters, etc. She also advises on employment law. Elena represents her clients’ interests in courts and arbitrations not only in Russia, but also abroad.

Since 2008 Elena has being acted as arbitrator.

Elena is working on her MPhil (Law) thesis which is on one of the aspects of marine insurance.

Elena is a frequent speaker at maritime law conferences and seminars. She reported on influence of state regulation of insurance activity onto shipping industry, on marine insurance claims handling, on crewing companies’ and labor relationships’ problems, on liability for oil pollution, etc.

Elena speaks English and French.
