Stephan Purps is an associate in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP’s Cologne office. He is a member of the antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) practice group and specialises in German and European competition law as well as energy law. He is a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht.

Stephan was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1980. He completed his legal education at the universities of Passau and Santiago de Compostela. He served his legal traineeship (Referendariat) at the District Court of Frankfurt am Main, during which he gained experience inter alia at the Bundeskartellamt and the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition.

Stephan joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in 2008. He speaks German, English and Spanish.
