Eduardo Calderón is a Partner of BLP Abogados where he practices in corporate and real estate law and heads the Telecommunications Practice of the law firm. He has been heavily involved in real estate matters and developments in the coastal areasof Costa Rica. Eduardo has advised construction companies, financial institutions and hotel developers in matters pertaining to real estate investments, concessions, andtourism law. His experience also includes the representation of financial agencies, banks and foreign corporations with business interests in Costa Rica. Before joining BLP Abogados in 2007, he practiced first as an Associate and later as a Partner of Facio&Cañas law firm for almost 10 years. In 2005, he was selected as one of Central America’s top 40 corporate lawyers under 40 years old by the prestigious British-based magazine Latin Lawyer and, since then, has been recognized as a leader in his field by Latin Lawyer and more recently by the international legal directory Chambers and Partners, International Financial Law Review (IFLR 1000) and Who`s Who Legal. He holds degrees from University of Costa Rica Law School where he graduated with honors, and Columbia University Law School in New York (LL.M) where he received the Harlen-Fiske Stone Scholar award. Eduardo was granted a scholarship by the Organization of American States (OAS) during his LL.M program. He was recently elected as director of the Costa Rican Bar Association and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Center of Conciliation and Arbitration (CICA-AMCHAM). He has also attended seminars on International Transactions organized by the Georgetown University Law Center and the Central American Business Administration Institute (INCAE). Mr. Calderón was born in Oxford, England and is fluent in English and Spanish.
