Ulrich Scholz

Ulrich Scholz has been a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP since 2002 and works in the firm’s Cologne office. He is a member of the antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) practice group and specialises in all aspects of competition and trade, with a particular focus on regulatory issues relating to the liberalisation of the energy sector. He also advises on energy law and contract law.

Ulrich was born in 1966. He completed his legal education at the universities of Cologne, Bonn and Tulane Law School (New Orleans, USA). In 1997 he worked as a foreign associate at the law firm Healy & Baillie in New York.

Ulrich is a member of the German Bar Association, the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht and the German-American Lawyer Association. He is co-editor of the handbook “Stromwirtschaft” and author of several publications on competition and energy law.

Ulrich joined the firm in 1996. He speaks German and English.
