Mr. Jianyang (Eugene) Yu is a partner at the law firm of Liu, Shen & Associates and specializes in counseling, licensing and litigation in the areas of intellectual property and related laws. He successfully represented a major foreign company as the lead counsel in China’s first patent infringement litigation that involved a foreign party in 1989, and has since represented a number of multi-national corporations in intellectual property disputes in China. He has won the most comprehensive IP litigation case in China involving patent, trademark and copyright infringement as well as unfair competition, and the case was announced by the Supreme Court of China in 1997 as a representative IP litigation case. He won another IP lawsuit that was announced by the Supreme Court of China in 2003 as a representative IP litigation case.

He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Zhejiang University in China in 1982, studied law at Columbia University School of Law in the City of New York as a visiting scholar from 1985-1986, received his LL.M. degree from the University of Michigan Law School in the United States in 1987. He has been listed in the Asia’s 500 Leading Lawyers by Asia Law & Practice every year since 2003, the International Who’s Who of Patent Lawyers by Law Business Research every year since 2003, in the Guide to the World’s Leading Patent Law Practitioners by Managing Intellectual Property every year since 2007.
