Jose is the firm’s Managing Partner. His intellectual property practice covers patent, trademark and copyright law and includes registration and enforcement, technology transfer, and licensing and franchising across all industry segments. He has assisted both local and foreign clients in over 50 franchise deals over the years in diverse areas such as entertainment, hotels, restaurants, weight reductions centers, office support centers and office building centers, among others.
His franchising experience is fortified by a corporate law practice that focuses on mergers & acquisitions, distribution and organizational structure for a variety of clients in the entertainment, financial, pharmaceutical, food & beverage and healthcare industries. He also assists clients with their food & drug registrations and telecommunication matters.
He has been key for the business expansion of The Moore Company, a Rhode Island based textile company and serves as director in two of the companies operating in El Salvador. He is involved in several corporate responsibility projects including being founding member of the Kiwanis Club Los Robles, LIDERA Foundation (which deals with promoting ethics in the legal profession), Patria Unida Foundation (which promotes citizenship conscience towards solving national scope problems).
Jose received his law degree from Dr. Jose Matias Delgado University in San Salvador in 1990 and was authorized as a Notary Public by the Supreme Court Justice in 1991. He received his Master of Laws degree in Intellectual Property from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1993, now called University of New Hampshire School of Law. He actively participates in INTA and ASIPI.
