Marieke van den Dool (admitted 1998) graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1996 and started her career as in-house counsel to Hudig&Veder in Rotterdam, a company with a wide range of shipping-related activities. She worked as a shipping lawyer with NautaDutilh from 1998-2005 and became a (founding) partner of Van Steenderen MainportLawyers in December 2005.
Marieke is an allround shipping lawyer. She stands out for her sharpness and negotiating skills in transactional work, but is also a strong litigator if need arises. Specific areas of expertise are shipbuilding and conversion projects. Next to that her practice further evolves around: charter party disputes, technical disputes, the arrest of ships and enforcement of ship mortgages in the Netherlands, ship finance and registration, agency law, freight forwarding and physical distribution. She is a member of the Rotterdam Bar, the Netherlands Maritime & Transport Law Association and of the IBA Committee on Maritime Law.
