A Senior Partner of the Firm, Mr. Puno graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University College of Law in 1989. After obtaining his graduate degree in law, Mr. Puno immediately immersed himself in law practice as Associate Attorney in the Firm in a wide variety of practice including international transactions, civil and criminal litigation, and labor practice. Upon being admitted as a Partner in the Firm in 1995, he focused his areas of practice to general corporate law, project finance, energy, and infrastructure.
Lawyer Monthly, an international publication that selects top ranked legal professionals across the globe chosen from among firms and lawyers that have undergone extensive research for quality and depth of expertise has selected Roderico V. Puno as one of its “Leading Lawyer 100 for 2011” in the field of Energy Law. Mr. Puno was also recently recognized as one of the world’s leading lawyers in the field of Energy and Natural Resources by the Legal Media Group of Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. In 2010 and previous years, Chambers & Partners cited Mr. Puno as a highly recommended leading lawyer in the Corporate/Commercial field. Mr. Puno currently specializes in corporation law, banking, corporate and project finance, real estate, utilities regulation, securities, and infrastructure. He supervises the Firm’s attorneys in the representation of the Firm’s clients in the varied areas of privatization, mergers and acquisitions, electric power utilities regulation, mining, banking and finance, and commercial arbitration. Further, he is an authority on Philippine energy laws having been in the Technical Working Group of the Committee on Energy of the Philippine Congress representing the private sector that drafted the Electric Power Industry Reform Act. He has likewise had negotiating experience with, foreign corporations, international law firms, Philippine government agencies, as well as government owned and/or controlled corporations.
