Nikolai T. Gouginski is a partner in DGKV law firm. He heads the Competition Law, Regulatory and EU Law practices. In the years he has developed an extensive expertise, advising some of the most prominent clients of the law firm, providing comprehensive advice on the Bulgarian and EU competition law an practices, and representing clients before the Bulgarian Commission on Protection of Competition in proceedings relating to merger control, restrains on trade, unfair trade practices and state aid, etc.
Further on, as a leading lawyer of the project finance and international lending team of the firm, he has advised a number of International Finance Organizations such as the EBRD and the BSTDB, finance institutions and sponsors on project financing, lending, equity investment and securitization in Bulgaria.
Nikolai joined DGKV law firm as a senior associate in September 1999. He holds an LL.B degree from the Law Faculty of the University of Sofia (1995). In 1999 he graduated with Highest Honors (first in his class) from the LL.M program in International and Comparative Law of the George Washington University, Washington DC. Prior to joining the firm he has worked as associate in law firms in Sofia and has been a law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Sofia Regional Court. From 1996 till 1998 Nikolai worked as public interest lawyer in Budapest, Hungary, litigating before public international jurisdictions and high courts in Central and Eastern Europe.
Nikolai has a number of publications on various aspects of the antitrust and competition law.
