Sergio B. Bustamante, is the partner in charge of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department of the Firm. He holds a law degree from Universidad Panamericana Law School (JD) in Mexico City; and has obtained degrees of specialisation in environmental, corporate and tax law, PIL Harvard Law School (1997 and 2001).
He has been practising environmental occupational health and safety law for the past 24 years. Sergio has represented foreign and domestic companies before the Mexican federal, state and municipal environmental, occupational health and safety authorities in areas related to air, water hazardous waste, high risk activities, import and export of hazardous materials and waste, permit, mining, contaminated sites, radioactive, environmental audits, waste-management plans, administrative litigation, real estate, mergers and acquisitions.
Sergio is a member of the environmental committees of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Bar Association (IBA), Mexican Bar Association (MBA), Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and past co-chair of the United States-Mexico Bar Association. Sergio obtained a certificate by the National Institute of Ecology, which now is part of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, as an environmental consultant.
