Sarah De Leon Perello obtained her Doctor of Laws (Magna Cum Laude), Iberoamericana University (UNIBE), Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 1994. She received a LLM in International Business Law at the University of Manchester, England, 1995. Dr De Leon is senior partner at Headrick Rizik Alvarez & Fernández since 2003. She serves as counsel for national and international clients in the structuring and implementation of real estate projects, mergers and acquisitions, contract execution and negotiation, distribution relations, strategic alliances or “joint ventures, corporate law, as well as in processes related to foreign investments.
She actively participates in the drafting and revision of projects of laws and regulations. She is the author of the publications “La Nueva Cara de la Legislación Societaria Dominicana” (American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) magazine, April, 2009) and “New Company Law for the Dominican Republic” (Latin Lawyer Online, January 2009).
She is also the co-author of “Joint Ventures” (Colección Manuales FINJUS, June 1998) and has also collaborated with the drafting of the section on Mercantile Legislation: Business Organization in the “Guía del Inversionista 2009” published by the AMCHAMDR.
She was the coordinator of the National Association of Young Business People (ANJE)’s legal committee in charge of reviewing Law 479-08 on Business Associations and Individual Proprietorship with Limited Liability, which resulted in Law 31-11. Dr. De Leon speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian (basic knowledge) and is member of the Official Dominican Bar Association (CARD), Dominican Association for Business Lawyers, Inc. (ADAE), National Association for Young Business People, Inc. (ANJE), Manchester University Law Graduates Association (MULGA) and Interamerican Bar Association (IBA).
Dr De León’s professional corporate/commercial practice has been noticeably recognised, been ranked in Dominican Republic corporate/commercial (band 3) of Chambers Global 2011.
