Je Won Lee is a partner in the Securities & Finance Team and is a leading expert in the areas of private equity funds and other forms of collective investment schemes. Mr. Lee has extensive experience in the full range of compliance and management issues relating to private equity funds and collective investment schemes and has advised clients in relation to the establishment of numerous private equity funds, including the very first Korea Venture Fund. Mr. Lee has also advised managers of various private equity funds with regard to their investment activities.

As a highly regarded legal advisor in the area of private equity funds, Mr. Lee recently advised KB-Glenwood Private Equity Fund in connection with its acquisition of Powernet Technologies. This transaction marked the first time acquisition by a private equity fund in Korea of a company that was in the process of reorganization. Mr. Lee has also advised the Macquarie Group in relation to its establishment of Macquarie Korea Opportunities Fund and the Fund’s subsequent investment in SK E&S Co., Ltd. as well as in a port operation business spun-off from Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. He has advised the Korea Land Corporation for its establishment of a rental homes fund and with regard to the amendment of Korean laws and regulations related to the rental homes fund. In addition, Mr. Lee has advised Shinhan Asset Management Inc. in connection with its establishment of the first mezzanine fund in Korea.

Among other things, Mr. Lee is also well known for his expertise in the areas of securities regulation, financial institution compliance, and foreign direct investment matters.
