Óscar Correa is the head of the Patents and Health Registrations department of Cavelier Abogados, which has been considered for the last three consecutive years as “the Firm of the Year” in Colombia. He is in charge of the firm’s pharmaceuticals & chemicals litigation group as well and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.
Over the past 16 years, Mr. Correa has prepared and tried intellectual property cases primarily in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemistry and polymeric materials. He has argued numerous appeals before the Court of Appeals in Colombia.
Mr. Correa has lectured extensively on intellectual property law matters for many professional associations and Universities, including Universidad de los Andes and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. He has authored papers on various aspects of intellectual property law that have been published by a number of law magazines.
Mr. Correa was selected as a top intellectual property law practitioner in the current and past edition of Best Lawyers in America, Euromoney Magazine’s Guides to the Best Patent Lawyers in Colombia.
He received a JD degree at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and has a Master’s Degree in Political Action, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Madrid, Spain, 2003 and a Postgraduate Specialization in Administrative Law, Universidad Panthéon-Assas (Paris II), Paris, France, 1997.
