Emmanuel Schulte specializes in EU and French competition law. He has extensive experience in merger control, advising and defending clients on cartel matters, anticompetitive practices, abuses of dominant position, and unfair competition. He also advises on structuring cooperation agreements (joint R&D agreements, specialization agreements, supply, outsourcing, joint manufacturing, technology transfer agreements), as well as on setting-up distribution networks (franchises, exclusive or selective distribution, licenses, etc.).

Emmanuel graduated from the University of Paris II (Business and Economic Law) and from the College of Europe in Bruges (Post-graduate in European Legal Studies).

Emmanuel was admitted to the Paris bar in 1993. He is a member of the Association Française d’Etude de la Concurrence. He is often mentioned as one of the best practitioners in EU and Competition.

He is the author of the Franchise chapter for France published by Getting the Deal Through, and the co-author of the Licensing chapter for the same publication.

Prior to joining Bersay & Associés as partner in 2004, Emmanuel was a partner at De Pardieu Brocas Maffei, in charge of the EU and Competition team since 1999. After an internship at the European Commission (Legal Service), he started his career in 1990 in Brussels at Jeantet Associés (Alliance of European Lawyers). He was then seconded to the Hungarian Privatization Agency in Budapest, before joining Moquet Borde & Associés (now PaulHastings) in Paris (1996-1999).
