Ricardo Rozas is a founder partner in the Chilean law firm Larrain Rozas Lackington Rencoret & Urzua Abogados Ltda, also known as L&R Abogados and heads the firm’s shipping and insurance / reinsurance group.
He specializes in all aspects of transportation, charterparties, bills of lading, cargo claims, admiralty law, pollution, personal injuries, ship finance, ship repair contracts, arrest of vessels, international trade and related conflict resolutions. He is well experienced in marine and non-marine insurance & reinsurance topics, including assisting the global reinsurance market on regular basis and in some of the biggest cases of Chile’s insurance history.
He graduated of the School of Law of the Catholic University of Chile (LL.B) and holds a Master of Law Degree (LLM) from Southampton University, U.K. He is a regular speaker at different transport, shipping and insurance conferences around the world and author of several publications, including the chapters on Chile in Getting the Deal Through both in Shipping and Insurance & Reinsurance.
He is vice chair of the Maritime and Land Transport Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and Maritime Committee of the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA). In addition, he is member of the Insurance Committee of the IBA; of the Maritime Committee of the International Bar Association; of the Latin American Maritime Law Institute (IIDM); of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA); and of the Chilean Maritime Law and Bar Associations.
