Gabriela Cacerea co-heads the M&A Practice and is one of the Partners coordinating the Energy Practice having particular expertise in electricity, renewables and natural gas. Gabriela has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions transactions in the energy field, including high profile privatization projects such as the IPO on the Bucharest Stock Exchange of Transgaz SA – the Romanian natural gas transportation company, the joint venture to be established by E.ON Kraftwerke with other strategic investor and Termoelectrica for the construction and operation of a 800 MW generation capacity, as well as the successful privatization of 4 out of 5 privatized electricity distribution and supply companies. Also, in the last years she coordinated various projects for acquisition or development of wind farms projects including legal assessment of aspects related to renewable energy support schemes and general and industry specific advice including on permits and authorizations from initial phase throughout the commissioning and functioning thereof. Gabriela assisted Gaz de France and GDF Suez Energy Romania S.A. in structuring and initial stages of implementation of the legal, functional and accounting unbundling of the natural gas distribution activity. She is constantly involved in various legislative assessments of targeted industries in the energy market, including permitting, licenses and concessions, as well as in writing of articles in legal and business journals and directories in respect of energy market and renewable energy. Sources praise her as “an experienced energy lawyer with a sharp, solution-oriented legal mind.”
