Kyo-Hwa Liz Chung is an attorney in the firm’s International Arbitration and Cross-border Litigation Group as well as Anti-corruption and Regulatory Compliance Group, and White-Collar Defense Group. Ms. Chung has extensive experience representing both Korean and international corporate clients in international commercial arbitration disputes as well as numerous cross-border litigation cases. Her practice also focuses on white collar criminal defense and anti-corruption and regulatory compliance issues, including trade secret infringement, government investigations, crisis management and matters related to U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Ms. Chung regularly advises clients on compliance, internal investigation, and employee training.
Prior to joining Kim & Chang in 2003, Ms. Chung served as a judge in the Seoul Administrative Court, the Seoul Central District Court and the Supreme Court of Korea (1999-2003). She also practiced as an international visiting attorney in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (2008-2009). She is a member of the IBA Arbitration Sub-Committee on Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards, the Arbitral Women, and the Korean Council for International Arbitration (KOCIA).
Ms. Chung received law degrees from Korea University College of Law (B. Jur., 1996) and Harvard Law School (LL.M., 2008). Ms. Chung is the author of several articles on administrative trial procedures and international trade disputes.
Ms. Chung is admitted to practice both in Korea and in New York. She is fluent in Korean and English.
