Marleen Van Kerckhove, a partner at Arnold & Porter, heads up the firm's European competition practice and its Brussels office. Her practice encompasses advice and representation before EU and national antitrust agencies on merger control, cartel investigations, abusive conduct and compliance policies as well as litigation before European courts. She also advises on international trade regulation matters. She has advised extensively on the application of EU competition law to the pharmaceutical sector, and on the interplay between antitrust and intellectual property law. She is fluent in English, Dutch, and French.

Ms Van Kerckhove has steered several major acquisitions and joint ventures through the EU merger control process. She regularly provides pre-transactional strategic advice, has been successful in obtaining clearance swiftly and efficiently, and, where necessary, negotiating remedies to avoid a prolonged in-depth investigation. In addition, she has significant experience in guiding clients and their local counsel through national merger investigations around the world, coordinating substance as well as timing.

She has, among others, recently assisted Air Products, Boston Scientific, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cisco, EFPIA, General Electric, Hitachi, Pfizer, and Sanyo on EU and international competition law matters.
