Kaori Yamada is a Japanese lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and has practiced in Tokyo and London. She advises on all areas of competition law before the Japanese and other competition authorities, including cartel defense, merger reviews, investigations on unilateral conducts, competitor collaboration, third party complaints, and various vertical issues across a broad range of industries. Her publications include a number of English and Japanese magazine articles and books.

She worked for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1999 and 2005 (Treaties Bureau, Economic Affairs Bureau etc). She was educated at the University of Tokyo (LLB), Oxford University (The Queen’s College, MJuris), and London school of Economics (LLM). She is a member of the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association. She speaks English and Japanese.
