Thomas Funke leads our competition & energy practice in Germany. His transactional experience includes advising on the sale of Ruhrgas to E.on and the acquisition of BEB by Nederlandse Gasunie. Thomas’ clients also include leading providers of solar panels and other renowned players in the renewable energies sector. He has represented German and international companies before the courts, competition authorities and sector regulators.

In addition to an IBA diploma in International Competition Law and his German qualification, Thomas earned a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia (LL.M.), as well as a doctorate in law from Bonn University (Dr. jur.).

Thomas is a regular speaker at international law conferences, and is also the co-author of a treatise on competition law in Germany and the EU.
